The Agricultural and Natural Resources program area is committed to providing research-based educational programs and technical assistance to farmers, commodity groups and agribusiness, and to providing horticultural and pest management assistance to the broader citizenship of West Virginia. Current Agricultural and Natural Resources initiatives include animal health and nutrition programs, youth livestock education, Junior Master Gardener, urban forestry, community gardening and youth gardening.
We primarily target the Kanawha, Putnam and Cabell County areas and have staff members housed in both Kanawha and Putnam locations. You can see some of our garden initiatives on display at locations such as Carroll Terrace in downtown Charleston and at the Barnett Center in Huntington. We are active at a variety of community events with our “Backyard Habitat” interactive educational exhibit for kids. You may have seen us at the Dogwood Festival, Ribfest or the WSAZ Home & Garden Show in Huntington, among other locations. We also offer a variety of hands-on educational workshops throughout our target area. Watch the Events calendar on the website for upcoming opportunities.
